There are many ways to engage in the efforts to improve our world. This is just a small offering of organizations you can check out who are having a significant impact on the issues we address.

GLOBAL HEALTH

One of our greatest challenges today is to provide healthcare efficiently to those who need it most.

	Medic Mobile develops mobile and web technology to help health care workers deliver medical services to those with the greatest need.
	ONE.org is an international campaigning and advocacy organization of nearly 6 million people taking action to end extreme poverty and preventable disease, particularly in Africa.
	Doctors Without Borders assists people worldwide where the need is greatest, delivering emergency medical aid to those affected by conflict, epidemics, disasters or exclusion from health care.

Humanitarian Relief

The following organizations respond to natural disaster, humanitarian crisis and international conflict.

	UNICEF is mandated by the United Nations General Assembly to advocate for the protection of children’s rights, to help meet their basic needs and to expand their opportunities to reach their full potential.
	The Miracle Foundation turns struggling, institutional orphanages into stable, loving, nurturing homes where children can thrive and truly change the story of their lives.
	The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises and helps people to survive and rebuild their lives. At work in over 40 countries and 22 U.S. cities to restore safety, dignity and hope, the IRC leads the way from harm to home.

MICROFINANCE

The umbrella term refers to the provision of financial services to low-income and under-served clients who lack access to banking and related services. Ingrid Munro refers to it as “the ladder”, but the poor must do the climbing themselves.

	By providing grants for the strengthening and expansion of microfinancing programs in Africa, MPA empowers those living in extreme poverty to lift themselves up with dignity through access to services and education. Working with partners like Jamii Bora throughout Africa, MPA accelerates the efforts of alleviating and eliminating poverty one micro-loan at a time.
	KIVA.org is a non-profit organization with a mission to connect people through lending to alleviate poverty.
	BRAC’s mission is to empower people and communities in situations of poverty, illiteracy, disease, and social injustice. The interventions of BRAC aim to achieve large scale, positive changes through economic and social programs that enable men and women to realize their potential.

ADVOCACY FOR WOMEN

Women and children are disproportionately affected by conflict and war. These organizations provide much needed services such as healthcare and support, as well as providing education and tools to improve their lives in the face of very difficult situations.

	In countries affected by conflict and war, Women for Women International supports the most marginalized women to earn and save money, improve health and well-being, influence decisions in their home and communities, and connect to networks for support.
	Sister Somalia is dedicated to providing catalytic support to survivors of sexual violence in Somalia, while changing the global conversation on women’s security in Somalia, and pressing for long term institutional changes to provide more comprehensive protections from gender based violence as Somalia emerges from chaos.
	Run for Congo Women is a run/walk movement benefiting Women for Women International’s Congo program. Starting with a lone run in 2006, Run for Congo Women has expanded throughout the United States, raising over $600,0000 for women victims of war in the DRC.
	The Hunger Project is a global, non-profit, strategic organization committed to the sustainable end of world hunger. It’s mission is to end hunger and poverty by pioneering sustainable, grassroots, women-centered strategies and advocating for their widespread adoption in countries throughout the world.

FEEDING THE HUNGRY

According to a 2014 study by the USDA, in 2010, over 30% of available food supply at the retail and consumer went un-eaten. In that same year, Feeding America provided food for 37 million Americans. The efforts of these organizations help alleviate hunger in America and abroad.

	For over 30 years, Society of St. Andrew has been gleaning America’s fields, and feeding America’s hungry. They coordinate gleanings throughout the country.
	World Food Programme is the world’s largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger worldwide.
	The mission of Feeding America is to feed America’s hungry through a nationwide network of member food banks and to engage our country in the fight to end hunger.
	The mission of Mercy Corps is to alleviate suffering, poverty and oppression by helping people build secure, productive, and just communities.

IMPACT AND EDUCATION

Every Three Seconds is developing version of the film for classroom use that will include teaching materials and discussion guides to target the young people who will lead the efforts to end hunger and poverty in the future.
